Hank Moody-Californication

Hey guys,

Today I want to talk about another example of Hollywood getting it right when it comes to the factors that cause attraction.

Last week I mentioned Hank Moody in a post I wrote on Player Game. Hank Moody is played by David Duchovny on the Showtime show Californication.

Hank is a writer from New York who has a daughter with an interesting architect and then moves to Califonia where his book is turned into a horrible movie starring Tom Cruise…

Then his wife gets stolen away by a another man who wants to marry her. Something Hank refused to do…

Ok now that the plot synopsis part of our show is over we can move on to what makes Hank attractive to women.

Now obviously because it’s a TV show the actual realism of the pick up scenes in Californication are on par with the realism of the shark from Jaws.

But there are things that Hank does consistently that are applicable in the real world.

One of the first ones is the way he always makes sexualized jokes in a ( And I shudder when I write this) Cocky Funny way. Hank always interacts with women humorously and flirty. Whether he’s asking Karen(The baby momma) about whether or not she’s gushing down there or telling her that she can’t run off and marry some other guy after banging him.

He’s always pushing sexual topics mixed in with humor. CJ noticed once when he was hanging out with Brent of DYD fame that he does a similar thing.

Another thing about Hank is he’s not afraid to sexually escalate. It’s hysterical when he tries to kiss Karen during the first season in front of her then fiancée. He always goes for the kiss with his estranged ex. And eventually it works.

Another thing to emulate from Hank is his complete love and respect for women. When he sees a woman being verbally abused a car over he intervenes. When a guy calls Karen a cunt at a charity event he beats the guy up after Bill the fiancée does nothing.

Lastly Hank never takes anything too seriously he’s always ready to make a joke even in the most dire of situations. An attitude like that goes a long way when interacting with women.

I highly recommend you guys check out the first season of Californication especially. It’s great. Season 2 kinda blows unfortunately.

i enjoyed the article, but it raised a question in my mind. I often times am like hank, i never take anything too seriously, but this girl that is just a friend, acts like its a flaw. I like that I am this way, its just she keeps telling me I need to take things more seriously. I am not gonna stop being positive, happy, and joking I just wanted your opinion.

Are you implying that the shark from Jaws wasn't real? ;)

Hey Sinn, check Barry' forum, Hypnotica says he's going to "teach you a lesson" because of what you said about him

  6. For the comment about it being a flaw - it is not. You are who you are. They see it as a flaw because they don't get it and most likely are jealous because they can't be a chill as you. Believe me, I know this from experience. I used to told all the time about how I need to take things more seriously but I kept my cool and now no one brings it up anymore - if anything, they talk about how cool and sexy it is that I keep my cool in every situation.

Hank Moody has some of the traits every guy should strive to acquire.

Loving and respectful for women, laid back attitude, naturally flirty and funny, etc.

And yes, season two is not as good as the first season.

Yeah, first season is fucking awesome.
The whole serie reminds me so much of comedian Bill Hicks.

    Good shit.

  9. Yup, I remember watching season 1 and thinking, "Someone in Hollywood knows wat the fuck is up"... it is, in many ways, a backlash to the pussification of Men... Here's a guy who's not just a man, but he's a modern man who doesn't worship modernity. He has values, and that matters more than money, fame, or even pussy.

I laughed at one point in season 1 his boss gets thrown out and is trying to bang a chick he pulled from the bar, she wants a threesome though: At one point she's blowing Hank, and he's just not into it, and admits to her "Look, I'm just not in the mood..."

I've actually done this (as many posting here have) and it is the sign of totally 100% not giving a shit about the sex. You can be so desensitized to sex, that a girl can be blowing you, or you can be watching The Daily Show, or making scrambled eggs etc... Whatever...

In many ways its like pseudo-enlightenment, not to be attracted or repulsed by SEX, but look on it calmly, without feeling.

(I swear I'm not KJ-ing, I went out last night LOL)

So the best PUA lifestyle shows are:

    Entourage season 1
    Californication Season 1
    Nip/Tuck season 1-4

    is this right?

  11. hey sinn, nice article, but i have a question for you:
is that possible? the beliefs of hank moody? having all the girls that he wants, and still be in love with his ex? or its just an ego-thing?

i say this because when i started learning pua techniques, i dated a hot girl in my school (the one i never think that i was going to date ever) but she left me after 3 months of fun.
she never told why, she just started to act like a crazy bitch (deleted me from msn, told me almost shouting that i should stop trying to contact her, bragging about having other guys) anyway, hurting me all that she could.

i have made the decision of getting over it, and have been with other girls, but that girl hurted me a lot (can you imagine what is that one day lot of "i love you" "i want to be with you all the time" "please never left me" and the next day "stay away from me!!")
and i think im "brain damaged" or something because i miss her even after 7 months ( i havent contacted her for over 4 months) not all the time, but i continue dreaming with her.
what should i do sinn? what do you recommend? i hate this feeling of being in love with someone that doesnt love me anymore.

PD: in season 2 i think hank throws more cocky/funny comments, and the routine of "let me get you with my power of seduction" in chapter 7 is very funny to the girls if applied correctly.

  12. Hank is my hero. But I haven't seen season 2 yet, so that opinion might change if it does actually blow

Hank Moody is the chillest character EVER, definitely a role model of mine. I read all that PUA bullshit and tried it out, had some success with it. But I just prefer Hanks laid back natural way of attracting the ladies. Even though he gets into sticky situations quite often, he never compromises his values or disrespects women, if he sees something he wants he goes for it, and he never lets anyone get the upperhand on him, plus he's just one hilarious motherfucka.

PS season 1 is better than season 2...but season 2 still kicks ass!!! and the ending of season 3 is just devastating. There better be a season 4!

  17. Season 2 is the best .. LEW ASHBY .. thats all I gotta say.

And I know I'm like two years late on this. So my credibility of the comment is better cause I'm from the future.

Hank is tall, handsome, hung, has notoriety amongst many women and yes in addition his do miner is calm, collected and softly sexual. This cocktail, works real well, if hank was shorter, had less hair, and a smaller penis, it wouldn't work so well. Doesn't matter how many stupid books you buy (IE "the game"), videos you watch (ie mystery method)... Those are the cold hard facts. A

His do miner? You mean his demeanour?

I love how you say 'it doesn't matter what you do' when, basically Hank Moody is Cocky/Funny 99% of the time.

He's not tall and he's average looking.. David Duchovny???

As for the 'cold hard facts'.. the fact is its a TV show with writers, ensuring that Hank Moody gets laid in almost every episode in predictably crazy scenarios, whilst not getting the shit kicked out of him by any jealous boyfriends.

immediately regret reading this after your opinion on season 2. when the casual observer mistakes the best season for the worst it's probably a good idea to not read that guy's blog. then again, he probably shouldn't be blogging in the first place. i hope you look back on the error of your ways and weep.

good news: show's been renewed for a 5th season.

  21. Great article. And I agree, Hank's devil may care attitude, humor, cocky funniness and mojo is a deadly combination when it comes to attracting women.

Also came across this cool article that breaksdown Hank's sense of dress and style which I think is also a major part of his attraction factor - http://hanks-wisdom.blogspot.com/2011/08/how-to-dress-like-hank-moody.html

  22. Hank Moody is just sick. I love him and i love Californication. The only problem is that we need to understand that Hank is just a TV show character.

Every man wants to be like him, but that's impossible in my opinion. We can be in some ways like Hank Moody but we just can't be him.

  23. So I just got season 1, and I honestly have no idea what y'all are talking about. Every analysis talks about how good he's at doing this or that with the ladies - but nobody mentions that in the show women THROW themselves at HIM. He just basically says "yes".

And when I say throw themselves at him, I don't mean that he does something impressive, and they THEN throw themselves at him...

In the show he literally has his life, and women APPROACH HIM, or AI HIM HARD (like the woman stares him down sexually in a "come fuck me" way).

I mean, anyone can get those women, those are the easy women, you just have to not fuck it up. The issue is the average guy doesn't have random women doing this to him every single day (like Hank does).
