Welcome back to the blog, I've been CRAZY busy. I'm doing a ton of photography and work stuff to make sure that you guys get the best newest information out there on Dating science.
One of the biggest concepts to me when I'm out meeting girls, is the idea of momentum. Savoy was the first one I heard use the term emotional momentum. But to me there are more places you can build momentum than simply a woman's emotions.
Momentum is defined by Dictionary.com as " force or speed of movement; impetus, as of a physical object or course of events"
So how does that relate to pickup?
In pickup, momentum refers to the overall amount of positive compliance you're getting from girls on various channels of the interaction. When you're "On" you generally have a ton of momentum as EVERYTHING that could possibly go right, does. Your jokes hit and the girls touch you, you go for movement and the girls eagerly come along, if you have enough momentum occasionally girls will even suggest taking you home.
Why is Momentum so important?
Momentum is important because as you start to get positive reactions from women, you will want to build on them as quickly as possible. By utilizing the concept of momentum, you allow yourself the best possible chance of moving the interaction forward. Ideally you want to make all of your escalation attempts at the highest possible point of momentum. Momentum has been described as alternatively as buying temperature. The basic idea being that it is easiest to escalate, immediately after an emotional spike. Now this can be positive or negative as it is easier to escalate after back turns, teases, etc... But those are merely examples of techniques that spike emotions.
How can you tell you have momentum in an interaction?
You can tell you have momentum when everything seems to be working easily and smoothly. You suggest moving and the girl is into it, you suggest a bounce and she readily agrees, you tease her and she explodes laughing and grabs you. Basically when you can get away with anything and the overall emotional graph of the interaction is at a high level, you develop momentum.
How is it generated?
Momentum is generated by getting girls to comply on multiple levels. These levels are Verbal, Logistical, Physical, and frames. By consistently getting the girl to say yes to small escalations, a snowball of momentum builds that eventually leads to larger escalations.
Be aware though momentum can build in a negative way as well. If you tease a girl when she's being nice or tyring to convince you she's cool, then you can generate negative momentum where a girl will actually begin to be mean to you after it was on.
The next time you go out, try to keep an idea on what level of momentum you have either positive or negative.

Very interesting, but how do we build momentum ? How can we volontarily create compliance ?
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of Mehow's laws of compliance (Microloop theory). It's nice stuff.
ReplyDeleteMomentum is important for guys who want to be good with women... when you have your first successes, it pushes you forward, you have momentum and you keep getting better. Take a break for a few days, and you have to re-build that momentum.
Sinn goes to a lot of events for free... he flaked once. That tells me he had valid reasons. These events are important for his business.

ReplyDeleteFrom time to time I see men have a perfectly great interaction with a girl, but they have to fck it up by building " negative momentum" when she's trying to convince them she's actually cool.
