Thick Face Black Heart

Thick Face Black heart is a book on the warrior’s philosophy. It pertains to business in a few specific chapters, but for the most apart is about developing the outlook on life to succeed.

This book kicks ass. It was sent to me by RAHN one of our former instructors and it is one of the best things I have read in the self development field. I’d say this is a must read if you are interested in improving your life.

There are 2 elements that the book addresses:

Thick Face- The shield
Black Face- The spear

Thick Face is a shield a shield to protect yourself from the negative opinions of others. This is all about being non-reactive and having the faith in yourself, your purpose, and your abilities to carry on in the face of opposition to your goals.

Black Heart is the ability to take action without regard to how the consequences will affect others. A black heart is ruthless not necessarily evil.

These are 2 elements that every good PUA needs to have. You need to be unaffected by others and be wiling to go to extremes to get what you want.

Here’s a quote that really resonated with me.

The natural way of Thick Face Black Heart is beyond human manipulation, beyond the petty standards of human judgement. When one acts in harmony with the universal will, one’s actions are aligned with the good and benefit of all. You are neither self-righteous nor too eager to please; nor are you seeking approval. In action you are swift, competent and dispassionate. In yielding you are unabashed and have no concern for others judgements. In conquoring you are effective and can be ruthless, In action and non action you are changeless. You are a true Thick Face Black Heart practitioner.

Highly recommended.

I second this recommendation. I started reading it a couple days ago and it is really stout.

A ruthless heart is a sociopathic heart. I'm not surprised guys who embrace a PUA identity would think ruthlessness is great.

Try a compassionate heart. Compassion for oneself and for others is something to strive for.

It's easy to see that all AFCs and many PUAs are stuck where they are because they have no real compassion for themselves.

I agree with the above poster.
"Petty standards of human judgement" = ethics. Sorry, but when you forfeit the ability to make small judgements for the "greater good", you become a sociopath and inherently evil. PUA's aren't evil, but we're sometimes asked to treat other people as target practice, which has its dangers.

Don't you see your comments ARE for the greater good what american society portrays. Unbelieveable, are any of you millionares? It's amazing you talk about how "those" people don't go anywhere, when they did go somewhere and wrote a book about it. Hah amazing

"Morals" and "Ethics" are systematic of religious ideals, and a passive-selfish urge to appear "good" by society's current standard, whatever that may be. All human beings are selfish by nature. As the saying goes, there is nothing a man won't do to ensure his survival. By being "compassionate" in all but absolute life or death scenarios, one robs the other of the chance to become stronger and more self-reliant, ultimately hindering the individual, creating a co-dependant attitude and providing the "compassionate" person a misguided feeling of "altruism" which is basically a biological reward for trbal approval. Hardly necessary when the "tribe" stands at 7 billion and counting.

We are products of outdated evolutionary emotional response. Those that trancend these unneccassry impulses, as this book pertains to, become successful in life. Those that don't, criticize. And use the cry of "morals" as a passive agressive verbal weapon for their immaturity.

Do you have any idea of the concept of the word good? Yes? Thought so. Think of it from this perspective... you are a human being and millions of years of evolution mean you are a social entity. Do you think that just because we have 7 billion people on this planet everyone should treat each other like crap all of a sudden? And that as a species we can erase millions of years of inbuilt genetic behaviours? And that you can do that alone!?!?! You cannot exist without others and the world you live in simply cannot function if people are not good to each other. I consider my self a good person and it gets me what i want. Just think, without good where would you be right now??? No where. You wouldn't even be alive.

Morals and ethics, altruism and compassion, all stem from what is good. It is evolutionarily a part of us to be good to each other to ensure our own survival. If we disregard that we will all likely be dead soon enough. And seeing as you probably don't believe in god, i take it you'd rather be alive? Well then, be good and watch your life blossom into joy and love. Would you much rather that than feeling like a loveless villian?

By all means though, do your'e own bidding, personally i try to forge my own unique path at every opportunity but not including being good to others in the equation does not make sense for me to carry on in this world, so i try to be the best i can by doing good for my self and others. Its very easy and very simple and the simplest explanation is often the most probable.

Anyway this thick heart black face thing sounds ok but the philosophy doesn't quite match buddhism really, or Tyler Durdan's Real Social Dynamics, but they both pretty much expound the same thing anyway. I choose peace, love and goodness and have a great time. If i choose selfishness and ignorance i get no where. You are simply wrong. I hope that is not too passive agressive or immature for your negative self.

To some of you all...I think you missed the most important part..."When one acts in harmony with the universal will, one’s actions are aligned with the good and benefit of all." Universal Will is the key phrase...for me, it speaks to universal law. Universal law speaks to respect for life, which inherently means respect for others, and all things that bring life. Of course, we must keep in mind that there is a check and balance for all things in nature. The Tao clearly states this. It is the universal law. For me, those adherents of universal law who apply thick face/black heart move with the Creator of All Things. Its pretty simple.

Black Heart is the spear-- not Black Face (that's something else entirely)

I just discovered this publication and have read some quotes from the book. It seems to me that we have become all too kind to each other in that the idea of allowing someone to fail in small ways is considered evil and selfish. As a kid, I learned very quickly that a scraped knee or minor cut would heal in short time, and I was wiser in the process. My mother would allow me back outdoors to experience life again with no restrictions. Look at kids today. Protective gear is not only encouraged, it is required. Parents are also involved in way too much "child worship" in that a kid's life often gets put on a schedule that pleases mainly the adult world, not the kid. America, allow the kids to fail on their own (as long as they are not in physical danger). Every failure is an oportunity to learn. Every protective restriction is a failed oportunity.
