Hola,
I was at a Starbucks the other day, and in front of me in line was a mother and her daughter who couldn't have been more than 3-4 years old.
What was interesting about this scene was that the Mother was asking more and more specific questions to the little girl about what she wanted to drink. Including what kind of straw she wanted to use, and other absurdities.
Besides making me feel bad for any guy who ever dates that girl in 15-20 years, it also made me think about how society in general forces woman towards too separate and distinctive personality types. Either Mothers ( or more likely Fathers) encourage their little girls to be extremely discerning and demanding ( This is generally going to happen with better looking girls as the parents think they can expect more) or they are going to be encouraged to be indecisive and let others make decisions for them.
It's almost as if as a woman you are stuck between nice and indecisive or being bitchy and decisive. There doesn't seem to be a middle ground for most girls, based on how society in general views young woman.
Anywho just a thought I wanted to write down.

You know that a recent study found out that there is a direct link between adolescense criminal behaviour and the ease of getting their wish as a toddler/child.
ReplyDeleteIn other words, the more parents give their children what they want, the more they'll end up engaging in criminal activity.
So yes, your random thought seems to be supported by some scientific evidence, as well as our common sense ofcourse ;)
sinn this is retarded put up a podcast negrodamus
ReplyDeleteThere is some scientific evidence there. However, the bottom line is that we all have an innate moral instinct for right vs. wrong. Its call being civil.
ReplyDeleteThat's actually something that's been bugging me a lot lately. There really is no happy middle ground. The thing that perpetuates this cycle is that women who are bitchy think that people get irritated by their bitchiness because they're "strong women". It reminds me of that scene in Baby Mama where Tina Fey says she's kind of a bitchy control freak and Greg Kinear jokes that if she were a guy, "you'd just be a dick". It's kind of annoying, because when you want a woman who has that middle ground, they seem almost compelled to either be super bitch or submissive.
ReplyDeletewomen
ReplyDeletewell interesting you put it that way we as men are being categorized by women asshole=id fuck him, nice guy=hes a pussy, creep=i want nothing to do with him, that is not the case for every guy every guy can be nice, asshole or creepy. We as men are categorizing women which is good to calibrate but they arent all going to be bitchy all the time and they arent going to be submissive all the time women are moody as we all know so they arent exact on that stereotype sinn to quote you quoting t.i. there are areas of shady gray.
ReplyDeleteaaand.......david wygnant sucks balls. :P
ReplyDeleteMan, if you haven't yet, please go watch the film Eyes Wide Shut. I just watched it for the second time, and the reason it made so much sense to me this time was because I had read your old posts about female psychology.
ReplyDeleteI feel like the movie critiques male perceptions of female sexuality in a very surreal way. The Madonna/whore complex theme comes up a lot. It would be awesome to read your thoughts on the film in a future post if you end up doing one.

ReplyDeleteThe famous experiment on delayed gratification was "The Marshmallow Experiment" that was done a long time ago.
From the Wikipedia article on Deferred Gratification:
The marshmallow experiment is a well known test of this concept conducted by Walter Mischel at Stanford University and discussed by Goleman in his popular work. In the 1960s, a group of four-year-olds were given a marshmallow and promised another, only if they could wait 20 minutes before eating the first one. Some children could wait and others could not. The researchers then followed the progress of each child into adolescence and demonstrated that those with the ability to wait were better adjusted and more dependable (determined via surveys of their parents and teachers), and scored an average of 210 points higher on the Scholastic Aptitude Test.[2]
Another famous impulse control test is the "gift delay," where children were shown a nicely wrapped gift but told they must complete a puzzle before opening it. Researchers then calculated a "delay score" based on how long the children held out. When independent examiners interviewed the test subject years later, they found boys who had not delayed were "irritable" and that the girls were "sulky." In contrast, the patient boys were "attentive" and the girls "competent."
So true.
ReplyDeleteI always seem to get the nice indecisive ones (some are still very hot) and making all their decisions can also be fine just don't get pissed at them for having no clue about what to do - you're the boss.
