So today I had a date set up for 5 o clock. I set up my dye and cut job at T&G for 1 Pm. 4 hours is totally enough time right?
Wrong!!!
Not only did Taylor at the Galleria mall in Dallas destroy my hair color making it a hybird orange/gold disaster that really looks like it needs to be done, but I also got my hair cut by Taylor who doubles as the town retard. man did that suck.
I was 45 minutes late to my date and instead of it starting at my place like it was set up for, but I was 45 minutes late and the girl was (understandably) pissed and decided to "Go home and play with her dogs, rather than go get another dirnk at another bar...
I am supposed to get a free color to make up for this, but I had to pay for both my terrible color and my terrible haircut.
FUCK TONI AND GUY!!!!!

Mall Salons arent really the best place to get haircuts and colors at. Same shit happened to me at an Aveda salon at the mall, wack ass haircut. Girls there seem to be the leftovers that aren't wanted at the REAL salons Don't even go back, they'll fuck it up even more. OH and they fucked up my GF's hair too at the same place, the same day, different person though.
ReplyDeleteNow I only go to the HOOD salon to get my 5 dollar haircut that actually does look real good.
I met Toni and Guy at World Hair Congress in London a couple years ago and they're hilarious as hell and real stand-up guys.
ReplyDeleteNot to mention Toni Mascolo had an entourage of women folloing him around the hotel and streets. Everyone said he's gay/bi/whatever but after seeing his suit coat with a stitched playboy bunny on the back and talking about English women with him he's definitely primming some hair besides on the head.
As my dad is a competitor, I'm bias to say their training is good, but not top notch. I know this because I've seen the training movies and watched both Toni and Guy (independently) style at the WHC. They are both FANTASTIC but there's definitely a loss in translation from their mastery to their training.
I feel you homie, trust me I feel you

Need more posts like this on here.

Dude,
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing at all wrong with Orange hair
;)
I'm a hairdresser that started out gunning for the best in the business- coming from the NW I didn't really have any direction to aim for except Gene Juarez in Seattle.
ReplyDeleteI loved it! I was educated beyond expectation or belief and was proud of my accomplishments.
Unfortunately I felt the need to test other waters and climb new mountains.
I THOUGHT Toni&Guy would be a higher peak than GJ ... but just like Parker said... their training/education is CRAP!
They stressed SO much on their classes and required a massive amount of attendance, we're talking working a 40 work week, paid at min. wage... with the expectation to work over time UNPAID, every day, attending several weekly classes, AND then going to an all day weekend class.
That's fine, but their classes consisted of a folder...with 5-10 power point, single sided pages. Literally, a sheet of paper with like 5 bulleted ideas.
Not to mention that the instructors never fully knew what they were explaining or the actual reason they were applying a certain technique in a hair cut. Other than the fact that they had been instructed to teach it that way.
Needless to say I left Toni&Guy because they asked for a huge dedication of hours, with not enough pay and a future of passing on that same type of training and expectation to incoming stylists.
I wish I had known I started on Mt. Everest in the first place!
Don't fall for the hype!
I dont know what toni and guy you worked for... but thats not how it is... not at the one I am at, at least.
ReplyDeleteYes, we work a lot of hours... 40.. no.... try 48-52 hours a week. Yes we have class every week...and lots of meetings... and extra model nights for new collections that come out. which sucks because they expet us to LIVE hair but isn't that a lot of salons?
Our paychecks make it worth it.. we get paid min wage as a garentee.. only if our commision is not more than we would get paid by the hour, which is a hell of a lot better than the alternative
10 pages?? i have a whole binder full of information and three text books. You must have worked for tony and gay and got confused hun cause toni and guy does have a lot of education... i am not saying its the best but it's definatly better than 90% of the salons where i live. There is a reason we are as big as we are.
This person does not know what they are talking about when it comes to actually being there... seems like they could not hack it longer then a week and bailed. Sucks for you.. have fun on "mt. everest" in the mean time ill be making the real money at the real salon.
1. Toni & Guy salons are departmentalized so the person who did your color wouldn't have done your cut...
ReplyDelete2. there is only one taylor at galleria and his work is pretty amazing...
so pretty much whatever did or did not happen to you was probably your own damn fault not communicating enought what you had in mind in what your color should be.. but my thoughts are that you are some crazy girl who doesn't like taylor and your just tryin to hurt buisness.... considering you don't know who cut your hair you just used his name... grow up
toni and guy hair stylist are a bunch of retards. I went there wanting to try something new and going by word of mouth had heard that they were the best. So went in there looking ok and came out looking like a train wreck. So this chick at willobrook who looked high as fuck was telling me i got the right hair cut for you, she stars cutting here ant there and kept on telling me how she would never get married because men are pigs and hair is her only companion. Kind of creepy after a while she kept on babbling about how kids were disgusting and she only loved her pooch. By now i knew i wasn't going to come back to this place as it's filled with creepy untalented fucks. When she finished she looks at me and says what do you think i had short hair here long here over there it was a mess. So i tell her if she can cut a bit more but she gets offended and says that cutting anymore would lose the style and would be a toni and guy haircut. So i just said fuck it i'll just pay and get the fuck out of here. So i go up to pay 65 dollars because according to them she is a master stylist. The guy tells me that almost everyone leaves a $20 tip for her because of her reputation. I said what look at me you think she deserves a tip. Fuck that i just want to get out of here and go
ReplyDeleteAlso went to Toni and Guy in the Galleria recently expecting a decent haircolour seeing that they are a well recognized international company...oh boy was I wrong. It was by far the WORST hairdressing experience ever, walked in with golden brown hair and wanted highlights-even had a picture of the colour I wanted, the woman working on me so overprocessed my hair that it actually broke, no wait Im sorry...BURNT off, then put on some shit toner to cover it up..I walked out looking way worse than I did before = had broken burnt off hair, and actually had darker hair than before with the ugliest dull grey tone to it...Wish I could sue..they really really Fucked up. Will never in my life set foot in that place again! Dont be fooled by the brand..theyre a bunch of amateurs!!DONT GO THERE EVER..ever ever..ever ever ever ever ever....!
ReplyDeleteI am a current student of Toni and Guy and first let me say I have a hell of a lot more education then just a few sheets. I have so many text books and videos I am learning a ton. Those of you who bad mouth the salon, cannot speak for every single one. Toni and Guy teaches you to not just do the cut you want, but to really listen and try to understand what the client wants. If you feel you had a bad experience I recommend that you try a different stylist. There are bad eggs everywhere, but I speak from my own wonderful experiences at Toni and Guy before I was a student, and the education I am receiving currently.
ReplyDeleteThose of you that got bad haircuts do realize that at most T&G Salons you can pick from a "ladder" of stylists. Meaning that you need to be smart enough to ask for a high tier stylist. The cuts cost diff amounts based on who you pick. Dont be stupid and walk in there getting your hair done with the cheapest possible and expect it to look good. I personally have 3 friends that work at T&G, one of them being my own sister, and everytime i have ever had my hair done there it has been phenomenal. Just like someone already said dont judge it just from one bad cut/color. They put their stylists through extra training because they are some of the best, and trust me its alot harder than you think to do what they do.
ReplyDeleteInteresting. I am beginning to take looks at hairdressing and I very interested in learning. I'm a hands on kind of person, and honestly, I'm glad they can accommodate people who don't know the first thing about hair, such as myself. I was thinking about being a colorist, and have recently researched the different departments. It's more than I thought, so I'm hoping to receive a positive experience. You can't judge a company based on someone else's experience, so... To each their own.
